Frequently Asked Questions

Are Counselling and Psychotherapy the same?

Counseling and therapy give you a special time and place to really get to know yourself and be kind to yourself.

Though people often mix up counseling and therapy, they’re a bit different. Counseling is all about dealing with your current problems and seeing how they affect your life right now.

Therapy, however, usually goes deeper and might last longer. It’s a chance to look into your past, notice patterns, and understand how they shape your relationships with yourself and others.

As an integrative counselor and therapist, I’m trained to mix different techniques to suit your needs best. I offer a supportive environment where we can work together to reach your therapy goals, whatever they might be.

What is coaching?

Coaching is different from counseling and therapy because it focuses on setting and achieving goals. In coaching, we use various techniques and tools to help you figure out your objectives, break them down into smaller steps, and keep track of your progress, constantly setting new milestones along the way.

As a coach, I'm not here to give you advice or tell you what to do. My job is to create a supportive space where you can reflect and discover your own insights and solutions.

How can I book a first session?

I'm happy to offer you a free 15-minute phone call to chat about why you're interested in therapy or coaching and answer any questions you might have. This gives you a chance to see if I'm the right fit for you. If you decide to move forward, I'll email you the counseling agreement, which outlines our responsibilities.

If you want to continue, we can set up a first session to assess our compatibility and address any other questions you may have.

What are your fees?

Individual therapy sessions cost £60. I offer discounts for people with low income, key workers, and those who are unemployed. Just ask for more details.

For coaching sessions, contact me directly. I offer customizable packages based on your goals and how often you want sessions.

Is online therapy/coaching effective?

Currently I'm only available for online sessions. Since the pandemic started, I've switched entirely to online therapy using platforms like Zoom or Google Meet. This change has worked really well, letting me provide quality care while keeping things safe and convenient for my clients.

Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health issues, like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more.

Here are some benefits of online therapy:

  • Accessibility: You can access therapy from home or anywhere with an internet connection and privacy.

  • Convenience: It's easier to fit therapy into your busy schedule with flexible online options.

  • Comfort and Privacy: Many people feel more comfortable and open in their own space.

  • Variety of Communication Channels: You can choose from video calls, phone calls, messaging, or email, depending on what works best for you.

  • Continuity of Care: Online therapy is great during crises or when in-person sessions aren’t possible, ensuring you still get the care you need.

Keep in mind that how effective online therapy is can depend on your comfort with technology, the strength of your relationship with your therapist, and the specific therapy methods used.
